Hubert “Sparky” Sparks

Hubert “Sparky” Sparks, 86, husband of Louise Gardner Sidwell Sparks, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at his home.

A native of Estill County, he was born on December 12, 1930, to the late Jesse Sparks, Sr. and Maggie Elizabeth Rawlins Sparks. He was a school bus driver for 18 years, a cattle farmer and an avid fisherman. Mr. Sparks loved people and never saw a stranger. He was a prayer leader for 22 years at Beverly White Towers on Sunday mornings and a member of Church of God Cathedral on Lexington Road.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jackie Sparks of Louisville, KY and Woodford Ray Sparks of Liberty, IN; seven grandchildren, Tyler Sparks, Trisha Lynn Sparks, Hollie Sparks, Katrina Sparks, Susan Sparks, Woodie Sparks, and Gregory Sparks; sixteen great grandchildren; four brothers, Charlie (Linda) Sparks, Clyde (Patty) Sparks, Jesse Jr. (Crystal) Sparks and Ernie Lee (Cheryi) Sparks; two sisters Edith (Harold) Rainey, Helen (Kelly) Fallen; several nieces, nephews and tons of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mildred Dawson Eldridge, Lucille (Matt) Brandenburg,

Services will be at 1:00PM Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Church of God Cathedral by Pastor David Douglas and Robert Gayheart. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Sparks, Clyde Sparks, Jesse Sparks Jr., Ernie Sparks, Ron Frazier and Sherman Dotson. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Johnson, Charles Steele, Steve McHorning, Robert Gayheart, Robert Lee and John Estepe.

Scobee Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 11:00AM Thursday until time of service.
