A man charged with robbing a Winchester check cashing business and a number of other businesses in the region was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday.

Andrew Carlisle Vaughn, 30, was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Clark Circuit Court. Instead, he pleaded guilty to both cases.

According to court documents, he pleaded guilty to one count each of first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree robbery, which was amended from first-degree robbery.

Vaughn waived his sentencing hearing and was sentenced immediately to 10 years for robbery plus five years for wanton endangerment, which will run consecutively for a total of 15 years. The sentence was also ordered to run concurrently with one case in Scott County and two cases in Boone County.

Vaughn was arrested in October 2016 following a pair of pharmacy robberies in Lexington and Georgetown. According to Winchester Police, a witness in the Lexington incident recorded the license plate of a black Plymouth PT Cruiser the suspect used. The same vehicle was used in the July 30, 2016, robbery of Checks into Cash in Winchester.

When detectives interviewed Vaughn, he admitted to the Winchester robbery and about 10 others in Lexington, Georgetown, Nicholasville, Cincinnati, Richmond and Mount Sterling, police said.
