Man pleads guilty to giving toddler alcohol
A man accused of assaulting and giving a 1-year-old child alcohol pleaded guilty Thursday to criminal abuse charges.
Brett Gibbs, 30, was indicted in September 2017 on one count of first-degree criminal abuse.
Gibbs was arrested in November after he missed his arraignment date in Clark Circuit Court.
On Thursday, Gibbs pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second-degree criminal abuse and agreed to a sentence of two years and one day.
Prosecutors did not make a recommendation for probation.
Gibbs is scheduled to be sentenced June 21.
Winchester Police officials said the charges stemmed from an incident in which Gibbs allegedly exposed the child to alcohol.
At the same time, there were allegations of assault. Gibbs was under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine at the time.
