GRC’s Manning picked as Athlete of the Week

Delaney Manning helped lead the Cardinals to a 2-0 record this week, scoring three goals against both Great Crossing and Madison Central. Manning also had an assist in the 10-1 victory against Great Crossing.

Winchester Sun: What’s you favorite part about playing soccer?

Delaney Manning: Getting to play the sport I love with my friends and making new ones.

WS: Did you set any personal goals before the season?

DM: Since my injury last October I made it my goal to get back to playing as quick as possible and come back stronger than I was before.

WS: Do you have any athletes you try to model your game after?

DM: Julie Ertz and Carli Lloyd.

WS: What’s your favorite memory playing soccer?

DM: Winning state cup this year with my club team.

WS: Who has had the most influence on your soccer career?

DM: Bo Lankster and Kimberly Vaughn.

WS: Did you set any team goals before the season?

DM: Getting to state again and actually making it past the first round.
