Clark Whitt, 71

Clark Whitt, 71, passed peacefully at his home on Geiger Key on August 3. His wife Barbara was at his side.

Clark served in the Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Brush during the Vietnam War. He died of Multiple Myeloma related to exposure to Agent Orange.

Clark, a well-known singer, musician and humorist entertained at most bars and restaurants in Key West for more than 30 years. He initiated the famous turtle races at the Turtle Kraals, which he presided over until 2017 when his illness caused him to retire.

Clark is survived by his wife Barbara Rye Whitt, stepson Brian Clay Daniel of Boonesborough, Ky; Brother Bill (MaryLou) Whitt and nieces Carma and Hannah of Waco, Ky and sister Sandy of Cincinnati, Ohio; also a son, Nathan (Deidre) Whitt and granddaughters Lili and Sophie of Dunnellon, FL.

The family thanks Dr. Rocky Tingle for his compassionate care and Hospice for their loving service. There will be a celebration of Clark’s life in Key West in the near future and another with friends and family in Kentucky in the fall.
