Kentucky Bank eyes August opening in downtown Winchester

The new downtown Kentucky Bank’s official opening could still be on hold until late this summer.

Jim Braden, the chief operating officer at Kentucky Bank, said he anticipates the location open in August.

“We are hoping for an August soft opening with a grand opening to follow shortly thereafter,” Braden said. “During the grand opening, we will have prizes and CD promotions.”

At its grand opening for its branch on the corner of Colby and Bypass roads, Kentucky Bank gave away a Yeti Cooler as one of its prizes.

The ATM is currently open at the new location at the corner of Maple and Broadway streets.

“We are working to complete the final testing of drive-thru tubes, teller vault equipment, and obtaining final approval by our primary regulator, the FDIC,” Braden said. “In the meantime, our ATM is on for our customers to have quick access to cash while downtown.”

Construction workers have been working to transform the former Kentucky Bank location at the corner of Lexington Avenue and Maple Street into a new home for CVS.

In May, crews tore down the building at 24 W. Lexington Ave. to make room for construction of a new CVS Pharmacy at that site. CVS officials did not respond to a request for comment in time for publication.

Kentucky Bank previously finished the rebuilding of its Bypass Road location in June 2017 with plans already in motion to move and rebuild its downtown location.

“We believe in downtown Winchester,” Braden said. “We know many towns in Kentucky struggle to maintain a vibrancy in their downtowns and want to support the communities we call home by keeping jobs and services downtown. We hope our new branch will be part of the continued revitalization of downtown Winchester which includes businesses and residents alike.”

Braden said Kentucky Bank is excited about its new branch because of its open design and more efficient layout compared to traditional style branches. He said everyone is also satisfied to see the construction project near completion.

“We look forward to continuing to provide premier customer service to our Winchester customers while providing convenient locations both on the bypass and downtown,” he said.
