George Rogers Clark boys soccer had been in a bit of a slump after starting the season 4-0. They tied with Rowan County and lost back-to-back games against Montgomery County and Corbin. They also lost their leading scorer on the season, Brandon Beltran, due to injury in Monday’s loss to Corbin.

But they were able to get their game back on track with a 3-0 win against East Jessamine Tuesday night.

Even with no Beltran, the Cards were able to score three goals, the most they had scored in a game since Aug. 24 against Conner.

Senior Tyree Brown was able to find the back of the net for the first time this season, coming off a Nate Horseman assist. Ryan Sosa and Joe Dolen were also able to score their first goals of the season.

GRC defense, and goalkeeper Tayman Hayes, had another great day on the field. This shutout was the team’s fourth out of eight games.

The win boosted the team up to third in the 10th Region standings, trailing only Harrison County and Montgomery County.

The team hopes to have Beltran back tonight when the Cardinals hit the road to take on a one-win Paris team at 6 p.m.
