A Kentucky author will take his audience back in time Thursday evening to the years following the War of 1812.

Author and Chatauqua performer Eddie Price will speak during the Second Thursday program this week at the Bluegrass Heritage Museum.

Director Sandy Stults said Pierce has spoken at the museum before, following the release of his first book, “Widder’s Landing,” which is set in the years leading up to the War of 1812.

His latest book, “One Drop A Slave,” will be featured Thursday evening and follows the other chronologically.

“He’s going to talk about Kentucky after the War of 1812,” Stults said.

According to the Kentucky Humanities Council, Price’s program will focus on Kentucky’s growth in national influence following the war, with Henry Clay as speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Hemp also took hold as a new cash crop for farmers at the time.

Price, of Hawesville, has written three books for adults and two for children. He also performs as Roscoe Tarleton Goose, the jockey who rode Donerail to win the 1913 Kentucky Derby at 91:1 odds. To this day, it remains the longest odds of any Derby winner.

Price is also a speaker for the Kentucky Humanities Council.

The program will be at the Bluegrass Heritage Museum, 217 S. Main St. doors open at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 6:30.
