A Disney princess danced through the doorway to share stories and craft time with students at Dancer’s Pointe Tuesday.
Dancer’s Pointe is giving young ladies a chance to meet, dance like and become a princess for a week at its annual “Enchanted Camp. Students spent Monday through Friday learning dance routines to Disney songs, participating in arts and crafts and interacting with a “real princess.”
Divided into three rooms, the lobby of the studio groups work on arts and crafts, coloring and decorating masquerade masks and tie-dyed coffee filter butterflies.
After a half-hour, students regrouped in one of two other rooms where they practiced in front of a mirrored wall emulating each step from their instructors to tunes like “Under the Sea” or burned some extra magical energy in a princess-themed bounce house.
Danielle Bridgewater, owner and director at Dancer’s Pointe, said she believes it’s essential to have things for children to do where they can be themselves.
“Community is important to us,” Bridgewater said, adding she gets “to invest in the lives of the kids of Winchester.”
On Thursday, the dancers will have a “Princes Graduation,” where they will be crowned before their big night performing at the Winchester-Clark County Bluegrass Community & Technical College campus Friday before the showing of “Mary Poppins Returns.”
