Game of the Week: GRC vs. Conner boys soccer

Last year: Conner won 4-0

GRC boys soccer has started the season on fire, winning their first three games by a total margin of 10-0.

Freshman Brandon Beltran has had the hot foot so far, tallying five goals and an assist already.

Junior goalie Tayman Hayes has had a great start to the season as well, racking up 26 saves during his three shutouts.

Conner should be the toughest test the Cardinals have faced in the young season.

Conner won their first game of the season against Bishop Brossart, a 10th Region foe of GRC’s, 7-0.

Their second game of the season came against another 10th Region opponent, Calvary Christian. Conner won in a much closer game, 2-1.

Conner’s leading scorer is Colin Noble, who has three goals and an assist on his record so far this season. Jackson Sands and Drew Logan have also scored two goals for Conner so far this season.

Conner’s defense has been stout so far this season, giving up fewer shots on goal (7) than their offense has scored (9).

The two teams will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Cardinal Soccer Complex.
