Concert, 5K, rally slated for weekend

Downtown Winchester will be rocking tonight with the first event in the Rock the Block concert series.

Now in its third year, the concert series includes four dates on Friday nights throughout the summer.

Tonight’s concert will feature The Fever, a Lexington band which plays hits from the 1970s, 1980s and today’s dance music. The band includes Carroll Jones on bass, Mary Jones on vocals, Craig Morgan on guitar, V Grino on drums and Lucas Hippe on keyboard.

The event is free and starts at 7 p.m. in front of the Clark County Courthouse. Food and drink will be available.

A new event is also on the schedule this weekend focusing on recovery efforts.

Ark of Mercy Church of God is sponsoring the first Spark in Clark Recovery Rally Saturday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Main Street in front of the Clark County Courthouse.

According to the church, SPARK (Special People Advocating Recovery Kentucky) in Clark Ministries is presenting the event, which will include music, resource tables and activities for children. There will be speakers about Celebrate Recovery and Casey’s Law, which helps obtain involuntary addiction treatment in Kentucky.

The event also promises free food and a walk-a-thon beginning at 4:30 at Washington Street Apartments.
