A man charged with exploiting and abusing a 70-year-old woman is now scheduled for a June trial.

Jonathan Bostic, 42, of 15 Hays St., is charged with knowingly exploiting an adult and knowlngly abusing or neglecting an adult.

Prosecutors estimated the trial, scheduled to begin June 17, would last two days.

Bostic was arrested in September 2018 after allegedly racked up thousands of dollars in unauthorized purchases on his victim’s debit card, threatened to harm her and refused to seek medical care for the woman after she fell.

According to Winchester Police, Bostic lived with the woman at Beverly White Towers. The woman told police she gave him her debit card about six months prior to his arrest to buy some things for the apartment, but he never returned it. He allegedly continued to make purchases, and made threats against her.

She said he threatened to crash her car so no one else could use it. He also broke her phone and took her medication to use.

The woman also told police Bostic pushed her down and broke her hip about three weeks before his arrest. She said he never offered or provided medical care for the break. She also said he threatened to kill her if she told anyone what was happening.

The police were notified after family members found her in the apartment with a broken hip.

Police said Bostic was living in the apartment but was not a caretaker.

Bostic remains in the Clark County Detention Center.
