Nonprofit seeks art submissions for September’s National Recovery Month

Achieving Recovery Together (ART) is hosting a Treasured A.R.T Show with its annual fundraiser in September for National Recovery Month.

ART has several events planned this year in downtown Winchester and on the Winchester-Clark County Bluegrass Community and Technical College campus.

The National Recovery Month theme this year is “Together We Are Stronger.”

This theme emphasizes the need to share resources and build networks across the community that supports recovery in all its forms, according to a news release.

ART is asking for support. When people donate their talents in the arts with one to three pieces, they help ART reduce the impact of addiction and improve related health issues for the entire community including families, schools, businesses and individuals, according to a news release.

ART, in turn, will reward some of the artists, with a “Best of Show” and cash awards. The donations are tax deductible.

ART is an independent, private nonprofit organization led and governed by representatives of communities of recovery. It is also a recovery center focused on prevention, education, advocacy and recovery support serving Clark and surrounding counties.

Its services help to reduce or eliminate the stigma of addiction, which prevents people from seeking treatment, according to the release.

Its mission is “Just One More,” — one more life saved, one more family reunited, one more person breaking the cycle of addiction. ART stands in the gap to impact change in the community, according to the release.
