Fugitive arrested on drug charges

A Louisville man facing child pornography charges in Clark County was initially arrested here in 2015 following a suspicious person complaint, according to Winchester Police.

Kyle Clifford Legg, 38, was arrested Tuesday in Louisville on a 2015 indictment warrant from Clark County, according to the Kentucky Attorney General’s office.

According to court documents and Winchester Police, Legg and another person were arrested in January 2015 on drug charges.

Winchester Police Capt. Harvey Craycraft said officers responded to a report of suspicious people at Hardee’s, who were trying to find a juvenile in town who they met online. Officers searched Legg and the other person, and found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, he said. Both were arrested and charged.

“Mr. Legg had a phone,” Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said. “We searched the phone and found images of child pornography.”

Hall said the images were not of the juvenile they were looking for, but were of another juvenile. Hall said they contacted the juvenile in question, who confirmed Legg’s account.

Legg was indicted in May 2015 for 11 counts of possession of matter matter portraying the sexual performance of a minor. The charge is a felony with a potential sentence of one to five years upon conviction.

Legg did not appear for his arraignment in Clark Circuit Court on June 18, 2015, and the arrest warrant was issued.

According to a news release from the attorney general’s office, the cyber investigations unit had been working with the Louisville Metro Police Department after receiving three tips about Legg’s location through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about other incidents related to Legg.

According to the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, Legg was arrested for first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and was held on a $5,000 bond. He was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.

Legg will be returned to Clark County at some point.
