Lucy W. Brown, 94

Lucy W. Brown, 94, passed away peacefully July 7, 2018, with her family by her side.

Lucy was born August 29th, 1923 in Salyersville, KY to Emory and Carrie Wagers. She was the last survivor, the 10th of twelve children. On December 24th, 1943 she married the love of her life, Lucian E Brown. Lucian was a WWII veteran, and preceded her in death February 14, 1975. Lucy spent her earlier years in Eastern Kentucky but then moved with her family to a farm in Winchester, Ky where she spent most of her adult years. After her husband’s death, she moved with her daughter to Lexington, Ky where she lived her remaining years. She was an active member of Fayette Chapel United Baptist Church in Paris, KY for many years, and loved her church family.

Lucy spent her life dedicated to her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and her many nieces and nephews.

Lucy is survived by her loving children, Ronald Brown, Winchester, KY, Malinda (Ted) Schmidt, Hampton Cove, AL, and Elizabeth (Stan) Parker of Lexington, KY. Grandchildren; Michelle Reeves, Sarah (Brian) Ellis, Stanley and Logan Parker. Great Grandchildren, Kristine (Jordan) Kelly, Gina (Gilberto) Rios, Eli (Jasmine) Reeves, Michael Reeves, Abigail and Penelope Ellis.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Emory and Carrie Wagers; husband, Lucian Brown; grandson, Matthew Schmidt; Brothers, Gardner and Garlin Wagers and Sisters; Della Burton, Ellen Coffey, Vilena Taulbee, Maudia Taulbee, Mary McCarty, Martha Crase, Luna Perkins, Genova Wright, Irene Perkins and their spouses.

The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and therapists at The Willows at Hamburg for all their continuous care and concern over the past three years. We also want to thank the Bluegrass Hospice (Red 1 Team) for helping us with this final transition stage of Mother’s life.

Visitation will be Thursday 6-8 PM at Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S Main St, Winchester, KY 40391. A Celebration of Life Service on Friday at The Historic Church, 40 E Lexington Ave. Winchester at 2 PM with visitation an hour before service. Reverend CJ Murray Jr will be officiating.
