Winchester man killed in Sunday crash
A Clark County man died Sunday afternoon when his vehicle went off the road and overturned several times near the Clark County Fairgrounds.
Oscar Jones, 91, of 3497 Stamper Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Iron Works Road Sunday afternoon.
Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said Jones may have had a medical issue which contributed to the crash. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors and the road conditions and weather were good.
“We don’t know if there was a medical issue or what,” Perdue said. “There were no brake or skid marks. There weren’t any witnesses so its hard to say.”
Deputies said the Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling west near the entrance to the fairgrounds when it left the road in a curve. It struck a mailbox and went over an embankment, where it overturned several times.
Jones was alone in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved. A neighbor reported hearing the crash but did not see it, according to the accident report.
“It looked like he just went straight off the road,” Perdue said.
