Samuel G. Thorpe, 68

Samuel G. Thorpe, 68, husband of Deborah Perdue Thorpe, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by family and close friends, to his Heavenly home on Saturday, February 9, 2019.

He was born in Oneida, Kentucky, on March 7, 1950, to the late William Everett and Zenith Palmer Thorpe. Mr. Thorpe was a construction supervisor for Herrick Company, Inc. of Lawrenceburg, KY.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his only daughter, Stephanie Thorpe Nash; two grandsons, Jackson Thorpe Nash and Merrick Benjamin Nash; Bandford Malone, whom was like a son; four sisters, Janice (Frank) Moore, Lana (Bill) Tomlin, June Murray and Donna (Doug) Herrick; one brother, Edward Ray; seven nephews, three nieces and a host of many loving family and friends.

He graduated Lee County High School and attended Lees Junior College. Sam was a member and a deacon at Central Baptist Church. He was an avid bird hunter and fisherman and loved playing rook with the Salty Dog Rook Club.

Sam was noted for his love for the Lord, family, friends, quick wit, drive for hard work and just being a great man. The best times of his life on earth were spent with his wife, daughter and grandsons.

Memorial services will be at 1:00PM, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Central Baptist Church by Pastor Michael Houchens. Arrangements by Scobee Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 11:00AM until time of service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Central Baptist Church – Youth Ministry, 101 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester, KY 40391.
