Grandfather waives abuse case to grand jury
The grandfather of three young children found in unhygienic conditions and living in a car waived his evidentiary hearing Wednesday.
Timothy Anderson Jr., 43, was charged with first-degree criminal abuse and failure to comply with sex offender registration when he was arrested in December.
Anderson’s daughter Timisha Anderson was also charged with criminal abuse. Her hearing was continued until Jan. 15.
According to Winchester Police, officers were called to a doctor’s office on West Lexington Avenue on Dec. 11 after the woman locked herself in a bathroom.
When they opened the door, Timisha Anderson and the three children were inside. Only one of the children was wearing pants and none had shoes on.
Officers said the children’s diapers were full and had not been changed in some time. All three had severe diaper rash, skin problems and fecal matter “caked” on their bottoms.
According to court documents, Timisha Anderson told police all five of them were living in a Ford Expedition, along with three dogs.
The children were sleeping in their car seats.
Social workers told police they had tried to help the family find shelter, but Timisha Anderson would not return phone calls.
