Worship With 2022 Cross Walk and Good Friday Service

Spring is in full swing, with its unpredictable temperatures, thoughts of summer plans on the horizon, and accolades for many of our students, including the state basketball championship for the George Rogers Clark Cardinals.

For members of the faith community, observing the death and burial of Jesus Christ and celebrating His resurrection are the highlights of the season. Plans are in place for the Cross Walk and Good Friday Service to be held Friday, sponsored by the Winchester Clark County Association of Churches.

Everyone is invited to join the Cross Walk, which will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Winchester Municipal Utilities. It will proceed south on Main Street to Hickman, where it will turn and go to Lighthouse World Outreach Center, 127 East Hickman.

Following a brief devotional to accompany the setting of the cross, participants will enter the church sanctuary to join others for the Good Friday Service.

Jeff Gaines, lead pastor of Christ Church Winchester and president of the Association of Churches, will open the service with a welcome and prayer. The Lighthouse World Outreach Center worship band will lead in worship, and Rico Floyd, pastor of
Redeeming Grace Church of God, will share the Good Friday message.

An offering to support the transient ministry of Clark County Community Services will be introduced by Joseph Miller, board member of CCCS. These funds are used to provide food, gas, and/or a hotel room for those passing through Winchester who become stranded with car problems, lack of sufficient gasoline to reach their destination, etc.

The funds have also been used to pay for bus tickets for people to get home and is administered in cooperation with the Winchester Police Department.

Special music will be shared by Nathan Jackson of Mt. Zion Christian Church, and the closing and benediction will be given by Allan Hutchinson, lead pastor of First Church of God and vice president of the Association of Churches.

Once again this year, there will be no sack lunches available following the service.
