Organizations in and around Clark Co. offer family planning and pregnancy services

F1riday’s Supreme Court decision that nullified federally protected access to abortion services has sent a earthquake through the American citizenry that has not been felt in decades.

And with abortion services ceasing across the commonwealth here is a list of local or nearby clinics that offer legal pregnancy prevention services or pre-natal care.

The Clark County Health Department, located at 400 Professional Dr., in Winchester offers the following services:

• Reproductive health screenings, pelvic and breast exams

• Counseling on birth control methods and contraceptives

• Emergency contraceptives

• Pregnancy tests

• Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases and sexually transmitted infections

• HIV testing

• Health Education and counseling

“All services are confidential and HIV testing can be anonymous, if requested.  The health department recognizes the benefit of these services.  Staff treat each individual as a unique person with their own needs and questions.  The Clark County Health Department is here to provide the educational resources to help you make choices that support your decision,” said Clark County Public Health Director Becky Kissick.

Said services are also affordable.

“Our services are offered on a sliding scale, with most individuals qualifying for free services,” Kissick said.

New Beginnings – Winchester

New Beginnings of Winchester is located at 139 Jefferson St., and on its website says that it offers “free services and programs to help women and families through unexpected pregnancies” such as :

• Pregnancy tests

• Ultrasounds

• Counseling

• Information on sexually transmitted infections (STI’s).

• Adoption

• Parenting

Birthright of Lexington Inc.

As an organization, Birthright of Lexington, pledges on its website to provide “love and support, we help her with essentials such as pregnancy testing, medical, housing and counseling referrals as well as maternity and baby items. Through Birthright’s strong support system, she can realize hope for her future.”

Pregnancy Help Center Medical Clinic – Richmond

By its own mission statement posted on its website, “PHC is a nonprofit, special health clinic providing free medical services and accurate information on all options regarding unplanned pregnancy, including…adoption and parenting.”

This includes pregnancy services such as:

• Medical Pregnancy Verification

• Ultrasounds

• Information on parenting and adoption

• Referrals to Community Resources for Urgent or Long-Term Assistance

• Additional short-term resources, information, and other support for those that choose to parent and want help as they start that journey
