At the high school, middle school, and club level, all recently excelled and have much to mention going forward.

The Cards traveled to North Oldham High School in Goshen, KY, for the North Oldham Mustang Classic on Saturday, Feb. 2nd.

Over 25 teams had athletes featured at the event.

For GRC, senior Quentin Falls – formerly of Indiana – led the squad with a third-place finish, with brother Bryan Falls, a junior, finishing in fifth place. Freshman Braylen Livingson had an impressive sixth-place finish, while sophomore Cody Gibson – also a lineman with GRC’s football team – finished strong to win the consolation bracket in the heavyweight class.

GRC wrestling will travel to Henry Clay High School in Lexington for one dual meet tournament on Feb. 6th and another on Feb. 7th. Many of the wrestlers set to participate will be those who didn’t get as much time to participate at other meets this year.

The GRC boys regional tournament will take place at Frederick Douglass on Saturday, Feb. 10th, with boys state finals to take place on Thursday, Feb. 15th and Friday, Feb. 16th.

The 2024 KHSAA State Wrestling Championship boys tournament will be held at Alltech Arena in Lexington.

Girls Wrestling

The Lady Cards traveled to Bryan Station High School in Lexington with four competitors in the Region 3 Championship.

Impressively, all four competitors placed.

Sophomore Bailey Fletcher finished as the 120-lb. Regional Champion, impressive enough to garner much local coverage.

Junior Aanyah Betancur finished as runner-up in the 138-lb. class, while sophomore McKenzie Bush finished in 3rd place at the 165-lb. class.

Demonstrating that the future of the program is bright, Danica Patrick – only a seventh-grader – finished in fourth place in the 126-lb. Class.

As a result of their finishes, all four will compete at the 2024 KHSAA State Wrestling Championship girls tournament on Saturday, Feb. 17th, at Alltech Arena.

Robert D. Campbell Junior High School/Winchester Wrestling Club

RDC’s middle school team competed in the Kentucky Folkstyle Wrestling Committee (KFWC) State Finals on Feb. 4th in Louisville. Finishing on a bright note, the team finished with the second state placer.

With both the middle school and Winchester Wrestling Club finishing their season, the WWC – in only its second year – finished a highly respectable third place in their region.
