According to a news release, good news is coming to Clark County Public Schools. 

CCPS recently announced the intention of investing over $1 million into raises for certified employees. 

Thus, new teachers will begin their careers at CCPS with a salary of $45,000. 

Beneficially, the average raise for certified personnel in this transition into a new pay scale will be 7%. 

Ryan Dotson, a Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from the 73rd District, responded. 

“I would like to thank Superintendent Dustin Howard for putting together a district budget that wisely uses all available resources, including the record funding from the state, to provide raises to our invaluable teachers in Clark County,” Dotson said. 

The average starting salary of teachers in Kentucky is $38,000, slightly below the national average of $41,179. Yet with the salary increases, Clark County is placed well above the state and national average and align its starting salary with recommendations made by the Coalition to Sustain the Teaching Profession in its 2024 report. According to this report, only one Kentucky public school district offered teachers an annual starting salary of $45,000 in the 2022-23 school year. 

Dotson continued. 

“The General Assembly has committed itself to investing record amounts into our local school systems to support students, teachers, and staff,” he said. “I am excited about this opportunity for Clark County and the example it sets for the rest of the state.”
