AARP offering annual tax aide services
It’s tax season again and AARP volunteers are again offering tax preparation services to any and all.
Long-time volunteer Grace Ingram said seven preparers are working this season, including two to check all returns.
“We don’t do businesses,” she said. “It’s open to any age and any income.”
The AARP Tax-Aide Foundation operates from an annex at Central Baptist Church at 101 W. Lexington Avenue from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays until the filing deadline.
Taxpayers should bring their previous year’s return and all documentation for 2018 income, proof of taxes paid and contributions required for those who itemize.
Ingram said they have already done a brisk business.
“In the last three days, we’ve had 30 or more” returns prepared, she said.
In 2018, the Winchester office prepared about 550 returns, she said.
