Art, the birds and the bees

While parents were busy learning about “Beyond the Birds and the Bees,” Shearer Elementary School students created mosaic masterpieces.

Betsy Neale, a sociologist who specializes in adolescent reproductive health, led a presentation, sponsored by the Clark County Health Department, for senior adults and grandparents.

Neale showed the audience how to talk with children about relationships, values and the facts of life.

She also discussed grandparent/child communication, child and adolescent development and ways to help children avoid risky behaviors.

Brigetta Crawford, an art teacher at Shearer, and Kent Coogle, a Family Resource Center coordinator at Shearer, organized the mosaic art night while parents attended the workshop.

Nine students from the George Rogers Clark High School Beta Club also came by to help students with their art.
