In the hallway, the Robert D. Campbell Junior High School jazz band performed; in the auditorium, the State Champion Mock Trial Team demonstrated what they do best and all throughout the school, students and teachers showed RDC’s “greatness.”

The community had the opportunity to get an inside look at the happening within RDC during the Community Showcase Friday.

RDC invited a variety of community members to visit the school and see first hand a lot of the great things that are going on at the school.

Visitors to the showcase visited multiple classrooms and heard presentations from teachers on Google classroom and employability education. There was also a gallery walk showcase of RDC student work.

Principal Dustin Howard said incentivizing the students and creating a positive culture at RDC has made quite the difference this year.

“I told you when you got here to be prepared for greatness,” Howard told the crowd.

With several new “greatness” initiatives, Howard said the school is being more “proactive” when it comes to curbing bad behavior rather than retroactively punishing students.

Howard said RDC has even see a drop in in-school suspensions and other punishments because of the positive climate the school is working to build.

Howard asked the community to spread the word on the great things going on at RDC.

“We have a great school and a great community,” Howard said. “We look forward to building a better future.”
