The Robert D. Campbell soccer teams capped an undefeated season by winning the Bluegrass Middle School Conference championships Monday night.
Both teams capped a perfect season with a 4-0 victories. The Cardinals defeated Woodford County, while the Lady Cardinals topped Royal Spring. Both games were played at McNabb Middle School in Mount Sterling.
“Our goal coming this season was to be the best and win the conference,” Lady Cardinals coach Robbie Barnes said. “We knew all season we had to the potential to do something special. To go undefeated and win the tournament championship is special.”
Barnes said the win was a “testament to the work the girls put in all season.”
“They are great people on and off the field,” he said. “Thank you to the coaches, parents and fans for all your support.”
Cards coach Renny Ross agreed.
“The boys completed a goal they set back in February,” he said. “Tonight was all about a special group of boys all working together to finish what they started. I am so proud of them for all of their hard work.”
