Elizabeth “Betty” Ratliff Smith, 88
Elizabeth “Betty” Ratliff Smith, 88, widow of H. Wayne Smith, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Fountain Circle in Winchester, KY. She was born in Millersburg, KY, on July 12, 1930, to the late Charles Bruce and Easter Elizabeth Reynolds Ratliff.
Mrs. Smith was a reporter and author of Betty’s Babblin’s a weekly column for The Winchester Sun, where she worked for 36 years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She also was a Winchester City Clerk from 1966-1972. Betty was very active, serving in many organizations, including, Clark County Kiwanis 1998, 25 year member of the Winchester Christmas Parade Committee, 12 year member of the Winchester Veterans Council, 10 years for the Clark County Pioneer Festival Committee and the Pink Ribbon Partners.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Alesia) Butler; granddaughter, Samantha Brooke Butler; sister, Wanda (Carl) Littleton; one brother, Robert Samuel Ratliff, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Phillip S. Mefford; three brothers, William C. “Chet” Curtis, Earl S. Ratliff, and Dorsey P Curtis.
Services will be 12:00 Monday, November 26, 2018 at Scobee Funeral Home by Joe Price. Burial will follow in the Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Carr, Lonnie Pendleton, David Mullen, Henry Branham, Jerry Smith and Rob Ratliff. Honorary pallbearers will be the Estes Cousins, Pink Ribbon Partners, Harold Skinner, Brent Mershon, Jeff Kerr and Benny Crowe.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Scobee Funeral Home.
