While the other races are locked in place for the November general election, there is still time to file for two open school board seats.

Clark County Clerk Michelle Turner said candidates have until 4 p.m. Aug. 14 to file to run for the district 1 and district 4 seats. The two are presently filled by Michael Kuduk and Judy Hicks, respectively.

Beginning this year, candidates must submit a copy of their high school transcript to prove they completed the 12th grade, Turner said. The change applies across the state.

“If they have their college transcript, they still have to show they completed high school,” Turner said.

Incumbents must submit documentation they completed high school, as well as new candidates, she said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no one has filed to run for either of the two school board seats, she said.

School board members are elected to four-year terms. The race is non-partisan.

The other three seats, held by Gordon Parido, Scott Hisle and Ashley Ritchie, will be on the 2020 ballot.

Candidates for a particular district must be residents of that district, Turner said.

District 1 includes the Hampton, Forest Grove, Goodes, Pinchem and South Park voting precincts.

District 4 includes Garner, Franklin, Mount Abbott, City Hall, North Winchester and Fairfax.

Ballot positions will be drawn Aug. 16 and the ballots will be sent for printing the following day, she said.
