First Presbyterian hosting benefit concert Saturday

Shawn Stinson and Kyri Demby are returning to Winchester Saturday for their annual benefit concert at First Presbyterian Church.

The pair have performed at least four times in Winchester to raise funds for local nonprofit agencies including Clark County Community Services, the Clark County Homeless Coalition and Habitat for Humanities of Madison and Clark Counties.

Stinson, a music minister and therapist, said he became friends with First Presbyterian’s pastor, the Rev. Ryan Bradney, when they were in seminary together. They reconnected in 2014 at another benefit concert in Bardstown.

Stinson said he and Denby, a choir director and music educator, will perform from a diverse set list.

“I’ll be doing a wide range from traditional hymns to Broadway show tunes to freedom songs,” he said. “We try to keep a core number of selections to use from year to year.”

Stinson said they usually incorporate local singers and musicians into the concert each year. Saturday, Clark County vocalist Cassie Shields will be part of the lineup.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church, 130 Windridge Drive. Admission is free but an offering will be collected to benefit the three organizations.
