Hubbard B. Taylor Spencer Jr., 90, of Winchester, Kentucky passed peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2017.
Hubbard was a beloved husband and cherished father, grandfather, uncle and great-grandfather. A native of Clark County, he was born May 17, 1926, to the late Hubbard and Anna Sample Spencer.
Hubbard graduated from Clark County High School before joining the Army Air Force during World War II. He went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Moving back to Winchester he became one of the original members of the Gaylords. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winchester.
He was a Clark County farmer and worked closely with the Agricultural Colleges of Ohio and Kentucky in the early promotion of electric fencing of cattle and sheep and with the concept of rotated grazing, travelling throughout England and New Zealand to achieve this purpose. He dedicated much of his time and energy assisting those suffering from substance abuse.
Hubbard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Catlin Spencer; one daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Catlin Spencer; two sons,
John Spencer and his wife Regina and their two children Catlin Spencer Craig (Adam) and Tom Spencer; his son Hubbard Spencer and his wife Susan, and their four children, Taylor Spencer (Courtney), Ethan Spencer, Kelly Scanlan and Kim McCord (Todd); plus 5 great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews and a special family friend Tasha Yocum (Patrick).
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alice Newell (Henry Newell) and Clara Houlihan (Edward Houlihan). both of Winchester.

Friends may call will be between 5 and 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, with the Memorial on Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m. Both will be held at the Rolan Taylor Funeral Home in Winchester.
