A Winchester man accused of assaulting a man earlier this summer has been indicted for allegedly trying to intimidate and bribe the victim to avoid testifying in the case.

Christopher Gipson, 25, of 220 First St., was arrested Monday on an indictment warrant charging him with second-degree assault, two counts of intimidating a participant in the legal process, one count of bribing a witness and first-degree persistent felony offender.

A second person, 31-year-old Krystal Parker, was also indicted and arrested on one count each of intimidating a participant in a legal process and bribery of a witness.

The initial incident happened June 21 on Tyler Banks Court, which left the victim with a hemorrhage from facial fractures.

Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said Gipson and Parker each allegedly contacted the victim and threatened further harm if he

testified in court, as well as offering money in exchange for not testifying.

“The final threat from Gipson stated he’d do some severe bodily harm to the victim,” Hall said.

Both Gipson and Parker had contacted the victim from the assault, Hall said.

At this point, there are no other suspects but Hall said the investigation remains open.

Both Parker and Gipson are being held on a $100,000 cash bond in the Clark County Detention Center. They are scheduled to be arraigned at 11 a.m. Thursday in Clark Circuit Court.
