More than 100 children descended on Lykins Park Saturday morning, many with their bicycles and helmets in hand, for a morning of fun and education about bicycle safety. This year’s bicycle rodeo, presented by Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation, started with a lesson about using proper hand signals while riding, followed by safety checkpoints for bicycles and helmets. Once they were approved, bicyclists headed out to a couple courses, one market with traffic signs to learn the rules of the road. The other featured obstacles, such as a slalom, a teeter-totter to ride across, a balance beam and sections to ride fast and slow.
