Back to McBusiness: Renovated McDonald’s reopens
After a month of renovations, the Winchester McDonald’s officially reopened Thursday.
Kelly Healy, owner of the Winchester McDonald’s, said the restaurant completed renovations to the inside and the outside of the restaurant as part of a nationwide effort by the fast food chain.
Healy has been a McDonald’s owner/operator for more than 30 years, operating 10 restaurants in central Kentucky.
For a few weeks, the restaurant serviced the customers through the drive-through only, and then closed all operations for a short period to finish the renovations.
To celebrate the reopening, McDonald’s hosted a VIP launch party Thursday morning for various members of the community.
Ordering options such as self-ordering kiosks, table service and a new third window at the drive-through are just a few of the changes made to the Winchester McDonald’s.
The restaurant also features contemporary decor and about 20 additional seats. The kitchen was reconfigured and customers will no longer see the equipment behind the cashiers; instead, they will see a large digital menu.
About 17,000 McDonald’s are part of the renovation plan. The plan rolled out earlier in the spring, and every restaurant will be completed by the end 2019, Healy said.
“McDonald’s is calling this the experience of the future,” Healy said.
