The Clark County grand jury handed down indictments from an April robbery where a Clark County man was beaten with a  hammer and a propane tank.

Billy H. Bowman, 47 of Irvine, was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault for the April 17 incident at Charles Jones’ residence on Trapp Goff’s Corner Road. Two others, Tim Reed and Kennie Jean Helton, were both indicted for complicity to commit first-degree robbery and first-degree assault. Helton was also indicted for second-degree persistent felony offender.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and court documents, the victim reportedly let the three into his home around 4 a.m. The group then allegedly assaulted Jones with a hammer and a propane tank.

In an arrest warrant, deputies said Bowman punched Jones in the face and knocked him to the floor. When Jones found a firearm, a struggle began and Bowman hit him in the back of the head with a propane tank. Bowman allegedly grabbed the gun, threatened to kill Jones and left with oxycodone pills.

Helton and Reed were charged with assisting Bowman in the robbery and assault, while assaulting another person, Ronald W. Wiler.

Helton had not been charged previously, while Reed and Bowman are in the Clark County Detention Center.

The grand jury also indicted 35-year-old Darvin Johnson for first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, terroristic threatening, second-degree robbery, first-degree persistent felony offender.

Johnson, of Akron, Ohio, was arrested in March, six months after he allegedly held a Winchester woman and her son against their will before holding a knife on her as she drove him to a back to withdraw cash. After they returned to her home, she said Johnson raped her.

In a preliminary hearing in Clark District Court, the woman testified she had been in a relationship with Johnson and he wanted money to leave the state. She said she was afraid for her life as well as her son’s.

The grand jury returned the following indictments Thursday:

— Ashley Nicole Powell, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument (six counts).

— Ashley Nicole Powell, receiving stolen property, fraudulent use of ID card for benefits.

— Danny R. Abney, possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, first-degree persistent felony offender.

— John Lukasavage, receiving stolen property, possession of simulated controlled substance for sale or transfer, fraudulent use of ID card for benefits, second-degree persistent felony offender.

— Eric l. Dennis, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

— Katrina Caudill, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree persistent felony offender.

— Casey R. Creech and Ashley N. Harley, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree persistent felony offender (Creech).

— Bobbie Jean Oaks, third-degree assault.

— Karen S. Banks and Thomas W. McIntosh, second-degree burglary (Banks), possession of burglary tools, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (Banks), second-degree possession of a controlled subtance (Banks), third-degree possession of a controlled substance (Banks), first-degree persistent felony offender (Banks), complicity to commit second-degree burglary (McIntosh).

— April N. Exum, first-degree possession of a controlled subtance.

— Nicholas R. McCarty, third-degree burglary, second-degree persistent felony offender.

— Israel Villa, possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor (10 counts), use of a minor in a sexual performance (superceding indictment).

— Gail M. Estes and Tim Rose, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (four counts – Estes), first-degree trafficking in a controlled subtance (Rose), first-degree possession of a controlled subtance (two counts – Rose), tampering with physical evidence (Rose).

— Amy Clark, first-degree bail jumping.

The following case was dismissed by the grand jury.
