Vicki Berini Brashear, 63
On May 28, 1956 in Lexington, Kentucky, Vicki Berini Brashear was given the gift of life. On Tuesday, March 5, 2019 she gave that life back. She and her sister Alice were such a blessing to their parents, Richard and Virginia Pasley Berini.
Anyone who knew her, and those entrusted with her care during these final days, spoke of her wonderful smile, her laugh, and her positive attitude during a very difficult time. Her work on Earth is done. Her 10 year battle with Lewy Body Dementia is over.
Vicki was an educator like her mother. She taught math to hundreds of students over her 23 years teaching in Fayette County, Eminence Independent, Henry County, Jefferson County and Clark County. She was a talented tennis player, a fabulously gifted piano player, a loving and caring mother to 3 boys, Stephen, Nathan, and Carson.
She was the best friend and wife of Bob Brashear. She loved reading books, scrapbooking family photographs, taking long walks, the beach, and laughing with family and friends. When Stephen was born she put her career on hold for 10 years to raise three boys. She was a great mother. During that time, she started a math tutoring company, MathAide, and tutored students from elementary to college age. She made sure all three boys took piano lessons and had an appreciation of music. Music was always playing in the Brashear Home.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Is survived by her husband and mutual best friend, Bob Brashear, Sister, Alice Beach (Bryan), sons Stephen Taylor (Charis), Nathan Clay, and Carson Joseph, grandson Griffin Taylor, granddaughter, Kinsley Blake, nieces and nephews.
Caregivers Patsy Powell, Vickie Burkhart, Angie McKinney and Linda Stamper, you have been and will always be a part of our family. Thank you for your love and wonderful gift of caring. Patsy Powell, you have cared for and fed Vicki and all of our parents in their final days, with a smile and great meals.
Thank you Lauren White at Hospice East and all of the wonderful caring staff there for your help and support.
The best legacy a life can have is: First and foremost, were you faithful to God? Yes. Did you work hard and leave the world a better place? Yes. Did you touch lives? Yes. Did you laugh daily? Yes. Did you love unconditionally? Yes. You were a wonderful wife, mother and friend.
We love you and will miss you Vicki, Mom, Nanna, and Boo-Boo.
A celebration of Vicki’s life will be held at: St. Joseph Catholic Church, 248 S. Main St., Winchester, Kentucky at 12:00PM, Saturday, March 16, 2019 by Father Frank Brawner, Rev. Jim Rediford and Rev. Dale Adams.
Visitation will be from 10:00AM until time of service at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Vicki requested that there be a big party, an old fashion “Pig-Pickin’”, with family and friends after the service.
